Feb - '06 Sorry, been away from this.  There is new stuff here on the History page.  There is more coming, I promise.....
Aug - '03 Rye has been harvested from the Quarry Lot with a John Deere Reaper-Binder.  It was an amazing site.  Great pictures of it can be found by clicking here.  It was also in the Altamont Enterprise.
29-Jan-02 Been gone awhile...Sorry.  Late spring and early fall we cleaned more in the pasture lot.  The snow now covers what will be a huge brush fire this spring.  The Quarry Lot was plowed by Ernie, disked by Ken and Dad then a crop of winter wheat was planted.  The wheat when harvested will be delivered to Cape Cod to become thatching for historic homes.  Snow, Snow, Snow....Think Spring.......
03-May-02 No work on the farm lately.  I've been in the UK and the weather was hot while I was gone.  The fields are starting to green up and the clearing we did over the winter is very apparent now.  Will be taking the spring photo soon, so watch for that.  Lot's to mow and more clearing will get done soon, even if it does get warm.....Ken
8-Apr-02 I am off to the UK for two weeks starting this Friday.  What an interruption to the steady progress we have made this winter.  Oh well, one must work, I guess.  While I am gone, please don't forget to write, as I can still receive PVF mail in the UK.  May even find some time to work on the site a bit.  If you feel real ambitious, you could call the farm and talk Dad into cutting up some brush, or sorting aluminum, or sorting scrap metal, or well you get the picture.  Ken
29-Mar-02 Sunny Warm, almost too warm for clearing brush in the pasture lot, but Dad and I got a roadway opened from the the north side by the big Oak tree to the ancient hickory tree, 600' south.  In the shade of this tree our Grandma, used to pick hickory nuts in the fall.  That tree has know succumbed to age, but the memory lives on.  Two fires were started and fresh green brush was burned...(We've been told that can't be done).  Two old pieces of barb wire more than 120 years old were found...you will see pictures of them here soon.
23-Mar-02 The snow didn't keep Dad from going to the field below the quarry lot and cutting down more wild cheery and thorn apple trees.  Today it was noted that the Rock Lot is now visible from the house...First time in a very long time, 60+ years in fact.
16-Mar-02 Well, more of the same, burning thorn apple and wild cherry brush trees.  Worked by the large oak at the east end of the hollow.  Started by myself, then Dad arrived.  Cleared most what he had cut down earlier in the week.  Another ash pile and more land reclaimed....It looks good, it's tiring work, but the end result will be awesome.
9-Mar-02 Cleaned brush in pasture lot from the old ice pond westward to the stone wall at the quarry lot.  Brush trees laid down to to dry.  Tim, Dad and I worked for about 5 hours to clear about 1.5 acres of this field.  Weather warm 60F.
