CSA
Information
-
What is a CSA?CSA stands for Community Shared Agriculture. A CSA can be thought of as a membership or subscription to the products we have to offer. It allows you to be directly involved with the farmers who grow your food. The words ‘out of stock’ or ‘unavailable’ have no meaning in a CSA share. You have reserved your share ahead of time, guaranteeing you’ll receive your product. With a CSA share, you’ll pick up your monthly share from us, at the farm. No need for the grocery store.
-
What are the benfits of a CSA? When should we place our order? You are an active participant in your food supply and your food is reserved ahead of time. By partnering with us, you are supporting holistic farming practices that are better for our animals and our planet. You don’t need to store large amounts of meat in your own freezer. We store the meat here, for you to pick up monthly. CSA shares realize an average savings of 5% over buying individual retail cuts. You should place your order as early in the season as possible (before June is best), keeping in mind that we raise only enough animals to satisfy our CSA customer shares. If you order too late, we will be sold out until the following year. We ask that CSA orders be placed by June 1st, 2021, and we will continue to sell until Sold Out.
-
Which CSA Share is Right for Me?Keep in mind before deciding, that CSA share pickups begin in February, and CSA shares are reserved once per year, meaning you’ll need to order enough to satisfy you and your family for one full year, until the following season. The average family of 4 eats an estimated 2 pounds of meat per meal for dinner. Based on this information, please review the following comparison between the shares we offer, and how many meals you’ll be able to enjoy. Quarter Pork Share: Number of Meals: 18 Meals Per Month: 1.5 Half Pork Share: Number of Meals: 33 Meals Per Month: ~3 Whole Pork Share: Number of Meals: 68 Meals Per Month: ~6 We would be happy to chat with you and help you determine the proper share size for your family. How will pick-up work? What if I don't pick up my share?Monthly pick-up of your CSA share is scheduled for the first week of every month. Your farmer will hand pick, and have ready, your monthly share. All you must do is come to the farm at the allotted time with a reusable bag. Purchase a PVF grocery tote or insulated tote bag, the perfect size for a monthly share pickup, by clicking here. The specific pickup date and time will be sent by email, a week in advance. If monthly pickups aren’t your thing, you may take your entire share at any time. We recognize that life happens. If you can’t pickup your share, please let us know and we will arrange an alternate time or hold your share until the next pickup date, within reason.
